He made her attorney general, and she turned the Justice Department toward his enemies, pursuing James Comey and Letitia James in cases judges threw out as unlawful. Her handling of the Epstein files, first promising revelations, then declaring there was nothing to see, then a flawed release that exposed victims while shielding Epstein's correspondents, drew condemnation from Republicans and victims' advocates alike. Trump fired her in April 2026, and even then she pledged her loyalty to him, not to the office she had held. Sen. Elizabeth Warren said that under Bondi, "the DOJ became a cesspool of corruption."
