In 2016, Ted Cruz called Donald Trump a “pathological liar” and “utterly amoral,” after Trump mocked his wife’s looks and suggested his father helped assassinate John F. Kennedy. He went on to lead the Senate effort to overturn the 2020 election for that same man, and to hail him as a “flash-bang grenade” the country needed.
