In 2016, Marco Rubio called Donald Trump a “con artist” the country could not trust with the nuclear codes, and told crowds that “friends do not let friends vote for con artists.” He now runs Trump’s State Department, where he has personally revoked hundreds of visas over campus speech and dismantled America’s humanitarian aid agency. The case against him is his own.

He mocked Trump's business record, read his misspelled tweets aloud to the crowd, and said it was "time to pull off his mask so that people can see what we are dealing with here." He called Trump a con man who "runs on this idea he is fighting for the little guy, but he has spent his entire career sticking it to the little guy."

He said the State Department had pulled more than 300 student visas over pro-Palestinian activism, including that of a Tufts doctoral student detained off the street after co-writing an op-ed. "We gave you a visa to come and study," he said, "not to become a social activist." The chief diplomat now policing others' speech once ran on being its defender.

Dismantling America's humanitarian aid agency

He cut roughly 5,200 of USAID's 6,200 programs and folded the rest into the State Department, thanking Musk's DOGE for the "historic reform." The collapse of the 60-year-old agency overturned a bipartisan consensus that aid serves U.S. security; a study in The Lancet projected the cuts could cause millions of preventable deaths by 2030.
